Freedom 180, the Abstinence Education Project of the Bay County Health Department, was established in 2001. It is currently funded by a federal Florida Department of Health, Division of Family Health Services, Bureau of Family and Community Health Abstinence Education Program grant. The project assists the Florida Department of Health in its effort to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases in youth. The mission of the Freedom 180 abstinence education program is to make a positive difference in the lives of youth by promoting healthy lifestyle choices and teaching the message of abstinence in schools, churches and organizations throughout our community. Positive Youth Development is encouraged by STD and pregnancy prevention through abstinence from sex, drugs and alcohol, goal setting activities and healthy relationships education. Freedom 180 also holds community wide events to assist in educating youth and parents about the benefits of abstinence
