Body Piercing

Body piercing is an invasive procedure that presents the potential for infection. It can result in infections of the pierced site, especially if aftercare procedures are not followed. Blood borne pathogen transmission, such as Hepatitis B, is possible, if minimum sanitary and safety standards are not met.
The Bay County Health Department conducts annual inspections of Body Piercing Salons located in Bay, Gulf, Holmes, and Washington Counties.  Inspections of these facilities are conducted as a joint venture between the Environmental Health Section & Nursing Division of the health department. This program is designed to check for cleanliness of the equipment and facility, as well as record keeping and sterile techniques.
