This clinic is not designed to be a medical home. If you are able to get an appointment with your primary care doctor, you should. If it is not something that needs immediate treatment, you should schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor. Anyone regardless of insurance status can be seen in the night clinic and yes, we see those with insurance as well. Services provided are based on a sliding fee scale.

Car Seat Safety Class

This class will teach you how to properly use your child safety seat.

1st and 3rd Monday of each Month at 9:30am

Car seats are now available to purchase, at a cost of $10.00. Booster seats are available at the cost of  $5.00. The seats are for class participants who are Holmes County residents or who are clients being served through the Holmes County Health Department and receiving Healthy Start. If you wish to attend, call 547-8500 to register. Seats are only issued to PARENTS or GARDIANS of the child. Pregnant women need to be at least six months along to get a car seat for the unborn infant. You must attend the ENTIRE class to receive a seat.

Childbirth Education Classes

Classes are available at Health Department Annex

The Holmes County Healthy Start is offering a free child birth class for any woman who is pregnant. “Women are encouraged to bring their partners with them to the class.

The class lasts for the four nights, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Holmes County Health Department Annex. The class will teach pregnant women about   What happens to a woman’s body before labor begins, Relaxation and breathing,  different stages of labor,  recognizing true labor verses false labor,  massage during labor, different positions for labor, episiotomy,  care of newborn/ procedures after delivery, breastfeeding and much more.

To sign-up for the class, or if you have questions, call the health department annex at 547-8684 X 18 or 19 and ask to speak to Glenna Padgett, R.N. or Valery Lawton, FSW.

Safe Beds, Safe Babies

SIDS Classes will be held on the 4th Thursday of every month 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. If you're in need of a safe place for your baby to sleep contact our Healthy Start at 850 547-8500 x246 or x247.
