Would you be ready if there were an emergency? Be prepared: assemble an emergency supply kit, make your emergency plans, stay informed and be involved in helping your family, your business, and your community to be ready.
Emergencies happen every day, often when you least expect it. Whether it’s a manmade or natural disaster, the results can be frightening. Having a plan can help alleviate some of the stress associated with an event.
The Family Preparedness Guide was created by the State of Florida through the Department of Health. It provides information and checklists to help you plan and prepare for an emergency. The guide is available in: English, Spanish, and Creole.
If you have a chronic medical condition that requires constant medical care and need help evacuating during an emergency, you may be eligible for placement in Martin County’s Special Needs Shelter.
Plan for your Pets
The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast offers support for residents who are recommended to or order to evacuate their home. Pre-registration is required.

Additional Emergency Planning Resources
The Red Cross of Martin County Coordinates hurricane shelters for residents in need. Going to a shelter should be a last resort. The Red Cross urges residents to find alternate options including staying with local friends in a safe area. Please monitor local media for shelter information.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers guidance preparing for and responding to public health hazards and emergencies including natural disasters, bioterrorism and chemical emergencies.

Medical and non medical volunteers are needed to provide support in our community for a variety of Public Health initiatives.
