Medical Reserve Corps of Volusia County

About Us

"When a disaster happens, there is no time to suddenly 'prepare' for the unexpected.  Staying safe depends on knowing what to do before a disaster occurs."

How do MRC volunteers help in disasters?

In Volusia county, the Medical Reserve Corps is coordinated by the Health Department, where both medical and non-medical volunteers are pre-trained, prepared and ready to respond to community health emergencies in a structured way. MRC volunteers are called upon to serve alongside of public health and emergency services professionals in special needs hurricane shelters, in mass dispensing of medication/vaccination, or in disease outbreak investigations, to name a few examples.
