These surveys will include an evaluation of the physical, dental, and mental health services provided at the selected institutions, as well as a review of the administrative processes in place relating to those services.
This schedule represents a significant
increase over previous years in the average number of surveys conducted
annually. Coupled with this effort is a collaboration with the Department
of Corrections' Office of Health Services (OHS) to review and revise Health
Services Bulletins (HSB), the documents which provide standards of care to
institutional staff. CMA staff routinely review and offer recommendations
when applicable the the OHS regarding these standards. In turn,
measurement instruments used by the CMA during institutional surveys are
reviewed and revised as needed to correspond with HSB revisions.
