Telehealth/Telemedicine

Vision: To provide quality services in child protection and enhance services through the creative use of technology.

The effective use of advanced telecommunications technology can eliminate barriers to the provision of comprehensive and effective health care for children with special health care needs; children with or at risk for developmental delay; and children suspected to be abused or neglected in this large and diverse state. Access to necessary specialty care; professional education, support, communication and collaboration; and patient and family education and ongoing support are all enhanced through this technology. The effective use of telehealth technology can increase the productivity of staff and contributes to the management efficiency of headquarters and area offices.

  • To expedite child safety decisions.

  • To create new role for nursing staff in evaluating cases.

  • To increase training opportunities for local health care providers.

  • To promote community partnerships for child protection.

  • To monitor the number and success of court actions in cases where the medical evaluation is performed using telehealth technology.
