Healthcare System Preparedness Overview |
|||
| Hospitals and other
healthcare system partners play a key role in the event of a disaster or
health emergency and are crucial to ensure the health and safety of everyone
in the community. Statewide, they are partners in response to disasters and
public health preparedness. The ongoing threat and occurrence of both
natural and man-made events continues to reinforce the need to increase our
capacity to respond. The community depends on our healthcare system to be
prepared to deal with all types of events that can impact its citizens.
Hospitals need to be prepared to respond to both traditional disaster
threats and potential terrorist attacks, including the use of chemical,
biological, radiological/nuclear weapons or explosives. Hospital emergency
preparedness is a priority! The resources provided in this section will help all health care providers and hospital emergency personnel plan, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural or man-made disasters and other public health emergencies.
