InvestigationsPurposeThe purpose of the Investigation Section is to protect and enhance the public health, welfare, and safety of the citizens and visitors of the State of Florida. This is accomplished through disciplining individuals, providers and training schools and 911 Public Service Telecommunicators (PST) that fail to comply with the statutes and rules regulated by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. OverviewThe Investigation Section at the EMS Program analyzes and investigates legally sufficient complaints against Florida Training Schools, Florida EMS Providers, 911 PST's and anyone or entity acting as such. The section also works in conjunction with the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA), who investigates legally sufficient complaints against the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics. Prosecution of all cases are sent to the EMS Program Prosecuting Attorney for handling. Complaints may be made by a member of the community, a peer, a co-worker, an EMS service provider, and a training school. The complaint must be in writing and must be signed by the individual submitting the complaint. The complaint is confidential until 10 days after probable cause is found or if the subject (in writing) waives confidentiality, pursuant to Section 401.414(3) Florida Statutes.
