Drug Abuse Awareness Webcast

About the Webcast

On March 21, 2012, the Florida Department of Health, Office of Injury Prevention (now the Injury Prevention Program) and the Florida Medical Association co-sponsored an educational program to provide medical professionals with an overview on drug abuse. This program aired during National Poison Prevention Week as a live webcast.

Webcast segments included:

  • The Neuropharmacology of Drugs
  • Recent Drug Use and Misuse Trends in Florida
  • Best Practices and Protocols for Substance-Exposed Newborns
  • Changes to Florida’s Controlled Substance Laws 2011
  • Update on Florida’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
  • Prescription Drug Take Back Programs
