Florida Trauma System Plan Advisory CouncilCreation of a New Florida Trauma System Plan Advisory CouncilHB 5311, passed during the 2010 Legislative Session, amended s. 20.43, F.S. to eliminate the provision that allowed division directors within the Department of Health to establish advisory bodies. The current statute provides the authority to only the state surgeon general to establish advisory bodies within the department. Dr. Frank Farmer, State Surgeon General of the Department of Health created the new Florida Trauma System Plan Advisory Council on July 6, 2011. This new Advisory Council dissolved the Florida Trauma System Plan Advisory Committee that was created on January 16, 2009 by Dr. Jennifer Bencie, the former Director of the Division of Emergency Medical Operations. Below is the Creation Document, which provides the purpose, roles, and responsibilities and membership of the Council.
