 Advancing HIV Prevention (AHP) The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) unveiled a new initiative
in April 2003 to strengthen HIV prevention in the United States. This
initiative, Advancing HIV Prevention: New Strategies for a Changing
Epidemic, includes four key strategies:
- Making Voluntary HIV Testing a Routine Part of Medical Care
- Implementing New Models for Diagnosing HIV Infections Outside Medical
Settings
- Preventing New Infections by Working with Persons Diagnosed with HIV and
their Partners
- Further Decreasing Perinatal HIV Transmission
