What can I do to prevent antimicrobial resistance?

If you get ill:
o
Discuss the appropriate medicine for your illness with your doctor to avoid overusing or misusing antibiotics

o       Take your medication as prescribed - take all of it as prescribed and if your doctor has prescribed more than the required dose, discard any leftovers once you have completed the prescribed course of treatment

o       Never share your prescription or save part of it for the next time you get sick

o       Never take medicine that was prescribed for someone else

Healthy lifestyle habits can go far in preventing illness - eat a proper diet, exercise, get enough sleep, and keep good hygiene habits, such as frequent hand washing.
