This presentation is designed
as an introduction to the Florida Department of Health's influenza surveillance
systems, and especially Florida's Outpatient Influenza-like Illness Surveillance
Network (ILINet) sentinel provider network. The presentation includes basic
information on influenza epidemiology, and follows with a summary of the
surveillance systems used to track influenza activity, morbidity, and mortality
in Florida. An explanation of Florida's ILINet surveillance system shows how
influenza-like illness (ILI) data and influenza specimens are collected, and
outlines the benefits of the program for the provider and the public.
The ILINet Training is intended
for physicians and nurses who are currently enrolled in the program or who are
interested in joining. The presentation takes about an hour, and can be used
for 1 hour of CEU credit. The program uses Adobe Presenter but should not
require you to download any materials or additional software.
