Be In the Know: School Immunization Requirements

Get the shots your child needs to go to school on time.

Encourage your healthcare provider to give all age-appropriate shots to your child at every visit. Immunizations help keep your child safe from disease and cut down on sick visits to your healthcare provider.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) immunization schedules indicate the recommended ages for routine administration of currently licensed childhood vaccines. Any dose not given at the recommended age should be given at the next visit, when possible. If your child has not had shots or is behind in getting them, make an appointment now. For additional information regarding the vaccination schedules, contact your healthcare provider or County Health Department (CHD).

Get Informed about Adolescent Immunizations

Help your kids understand the importance of vaccines.

Vaccines are not just for babies. Adolescents have different needs for immunizations. They are more social, so they are more likely to catch certain diseases. Also, the protection from the immunizations they received as children can diminish over time, so an additional dose or booster is needed.

By giving the recommended immunizations in the adolescent years, they are protected when most at-risk. Talk to your healthcare provider about vaccines for your adolescent and teen.
