Home Health Agency's & Misc:

I am starting a home based business, which will provide the elderly care in their homes... the services will include companionship, bathing, light housekeeping, meal preparation, etc... What type of licenses do I need?

I live in an apartment complex that has copious amounts of pigeon droppings located on and in the property. Who would we contact about this problem, if the superintendent will not attempt to correct the problem and the building does not fall under the Department of Health’s regulations?

I am looking for a list of licensed home health care providers. Ideally, I would also like to see some descriptive information and information about ratings, inspection reports, etc... Where can I find this information?

The Department of Health does not regulate home health type agencies. The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulates and licenses homemaker companion agencies as well as other home health agencies. More information can be found at their website:

Scroll down until you see the title "Homemaker Companion Agency." This site has all licensing information and forms that must be submitted to AHCA. Should you have additional questions regarding licensing, you may contact AHCA directly at (850) 414-6010.

Facilities not regulated by the Department of Health (DOH) may be regulated by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Division of Hotels and Restaurants, which includes apartments and various lodging facilities. To file a complaint for investigation by a DBPR inspector, you may contact their agency by phone at 850-487-1395 or via the internet at:
