State Certified Radon Mitigation Businesses
All businesses and individuals providing radon services in Florida must have a
current Department of Health certification. Businesses and Individuals are certified to provide services statewide. However, some may choose to
only provide services in their counties or smaller geographic areas.
Becoming a State Certified Radon Businesses
Certified businesses are required to report their activities. A mitigation contractor must provide:
1) mitigation system labels,
2) a visual or audible device to automatically indicate system failure,
3) soil gas exhaust vents above the eave of the roof for active soil depressurization systems,
and
4) written instructions on the operation and maintenance of the system.
Selecting a mitigation contractor:
1) Must be certified by the Florida Department of Health
2) Must comply
with local building codes/permits
3) For engineered systems, the certified
radon mitigator must be an air conditioning (AC) contractor or work with an AC
contractor licensed by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/pro/cilb/codes.html).
