Florida Asthma Program
Asthma-Friendly Childcare Centers
The Florida Asthma Program, in collaboration with the
Duval County Health Department, St. Petersburg College, and the Florida Asthma Coalition, developed an on-line training and resource guide
to assist childcare centers and staff in becoming more asthma-friendly.
The Florida Asthma Program is excited to
announce the childcare centers who
have achieved recognition from the Florida Asthma Coalition.
Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center Training
The Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center training is available on-line through
St. Petersburg College On-Line Continuation Program. Use the following
instructions to guide you through the process of creating an account with St.
Petersburg College, registering for the course, completing the course, and obtaining
the certificate of completion.
You may find it helpful to print this page and follow along as
you go through each step. The certificate (acquired in step
11) is necessary to receive in-service credit. The certificate
is also a key requirement for achieving Asthma-Friendly Childcare
Center recognition.
Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center Recognition
The Florida Asthma Coalition, in partnership with local entities
across the state, offers a recognition opportunity for childcare
centers that demonstrate actions to create an Asthma-Friendly
Childcare Center. There are four levels of
recognition, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. The steps for
achieving each level are described in detail in the Asthma-Friendly
Childcare Center Resource Guide below.
Asthma-Friendly Childcare Center Resource Guide
The Asthma-Friendly Resource Guide is a companion document to the Asthma Friendly Childcare Center Training. It provides resources and tools to help childcare center staff manage asthma at their centers.
It also includes a description of the process and forms needed to obtain recognition from the Florida Asthma Coalition.
