Local/Regional Asthma Coalitions in Florida

There are currently five local/regional asthma coalitions:

  • Jacksonville Asthma Coalition – Health Jacksonville
The coalition is a consortium of healthcare providers, community-based organizations, business professionals, educators, public health officials, and concerned citizens working together to tackle asthma as a threat to community health and well being. The coalition works to increase asthma awareness and education.

  • Tampa Bay Asthma Coalition (TBAC)
TBAC is a community-based voluntary health collaborative dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with asthma. Through education and outreach, the coalition helps to bring effective self-management to those with asthma, including efforts to reduce asthma triggers in the environment, thus reducing the burden of asthma and improving air quality for everyone.

  • The A-Team Asthma Coalition
The goal of the A-Team Asthma Coalition is to make sure every child between the ages of 5-11 in St. Petersburg has an Asthma Action Plan and lives an active lifestyle. While focusing on children they do not limit their services to this group but work actively with the YMCA and Salvation Army as well as the Department of Health, local governments, and community groups to provide asthma education for free to all age groups.

  • South Florida Asthma Consortium
The South Florida Asthma Consortium is comprised of professionals from all different sectors of the health and medical communities. Their goal is to provide the public with information that will enable all individuals to better manage and control asthma.

The Suncoast Pediatric Asthma Coalition has grown to become a community-wide organization of persons interested in improving the quality of life for children and adolescents who have asthma.
