Asthma in the Primary Care Practice
Step-by-step tutorial intended to assist clinicians in applying the key concepts of the updated recommendations of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute,
Expert Panel Report -3 (EPR-3) into practice. Problem-based learning format will help clinicians apply key changes of the NAEPP, EPR-3; incorporate communication
strategies to promote self-management; and integrate trigger reduction recommendations into clinical practice.

Asthma Control: Are you Doing YOUR Part? An Update for School Nurses in
School-based Asthma Management
This webinar provides school nurses with information on the six guidelines-based
priority messages from the NAEPPs Guidelines Implementation Panel (GIP) Report,
as well as advances in school-based asthma management and techniques to overcome
barriers to controlling asthma in the school setting. Hosted by the American School
Health Association (Runtime approximately 1 1/2 hours)
Environmental Management of Pediatric Asthma: Guidelines for Health Care
Providers
These guidelines are aimed at integrating environmental management of asthma
into pediatric health care. These documents outline competencies in
environmental health relevant to pediatric asthma that should be mastered by
health care providers, and outlines the environmental interventions that should
be communicated to patients.
Improving Patient Adherence to Asthma Medications
Northeastern University's School of Pharmacy is offering this training free of
charge. Since adherence to asthma medication continues to be a challenge,
pharmacists can play an integral role in increasing adherence to medication
therapy and help patients overcome barriers to compliance. This program focuses
on the pharmacist's role in managing asthma and CPEs are available after
successful completion of the program.
Integrated Pest Management in Multi-Family Housing
This training, provided by the National Center for Healthy Housing, provides
guidance on Integrated Pest Management in Multi-Family Housing.
Physician Asthma Care Education (PACE)
This webinar introduces PACE and discusses how it can help improve therapeutic
techniques, asthma counseling reimbursement, and interactions with patients
without adding time to busy schedules. The PACE webinar and additional materials
will enable
clinicians, particularly those who practice in high-risk communities, to serve
as PACE trainers. PACE is a multi-faceted seminar
developed by physicians and public health professionals at the University of
Michigan and Columbia University that integrates the six priority messages from
the ERP-3's Guidelines Implementation Panel (GIP). In multiple trials, PACE
improved long-term asthma outcomes, even though PACE-trained physicians spent no
more time with their patients than other physicians. Hosted by the Center for
Managing Chronic Disease.
Reducing Environmental Triggers of Asthma in the Home
This training is designed for public health nurses (PHNs), certified asthma educators (AE-Cs), community health workers, and environmental specialists. It takes about 40 minutes to complete.
Teaches about the triggers of asthma found in the home and suggests simple, realistic interventions
to help limit or eliminate exposure to these triggers. The training was developed by
the Minnesota Department of Health under a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.
