Food and Waterborne Disease Preparedness

The criticality of our state's food and water supplies cannot be overstated.  The Food and Waterborne Disease Program monitors the state for food and water related emergencies, and we are continually improving the way we respond to them.  We are working closely with other state agencies and Department of Health programs to coordinate and strengthen Florida's network of food and water emergency response experts.

By strengthening our response to natural foodborne and waterborne disease outbreaks, we prepare to manage the challenge of an intentional incident.  Public Health personnel can prepare by developing local response plans and by supplementing their disease surveillance, investigation, and mitigation skills with training in terrorism and communication.

We support Florida's efforts to prepare, respond, and recover.
