West Ocala Historic Neighborhood PACE-EH
Project
The West Ocala Historic Community is being asked to
evaluate their communitys environmental health.
The Marion County Health Department has selected the West Ocala
Historic area of Marion County as the first community to have the
opportunity to participate. Citizens of the West Ocala Historic
community have been very enthusiastic about this exciting new project
and have embraced this opportunity to get involved in their own
future.
The project is grassroots and community-driven. This unique process
involves collaboratively conducting assessments, prioritizing, and
strategic planning, with the goal of acting upon environmental health
concerns in order to improve the quality of life in the West Ocala
Historic Community of the city of Ocala.
The Marion County Health Department will provide technical assistance
and serve as facilitator for this process. A team of concerned citizens,
business owners, government agencies, and other stakeholders will
participate in the process through thirteen prescribed steps. Parties
interested in participating should call Samuél Brobbey, Jr., or
Janet Griffin at the Environmental Health Division of the Marion
County Health Department at 352-622-7744, or email
Samuel_Brobbeyjr@doh.state.fl.us or
Janet_griffin@doh.state.fl.us.
Residents of the West Ocala Historic and any organization working
in the community are encouraged to participate in this first meeting,
which will be held on Monday August 2nd, 2004 from 6:00pm 7:30pm
at the community conference room of the Hampton Campus CFCC, 1501
W. Silver Spring Blvd. in Ocala.
