Health departments in each county provide local public health services.

County health departments offer a wide range of public health services which include disease prevention, health promotion, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and environmental surveillance and control. The scope of services offered by or through the county health departments vary among the counties; however, all provide a basic core of public health services which include community health assessment, policy development and assurance.
