Biography information about C. Meade Grigg, Deputy Secretary for
Statewide Services
C. Meade Grigg is the Department of Health's Deputy
Secretary for Statewide Services. In this role, Mr. Grigg will be responsible
for the oversight and provision of direction to the state's 60 county health
department directors and administrators who administer the services to the 67
county health departments. In addition, Mr. Grigg will also have oversight of
the Division of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management as it moves
into the Office of Statewide Services.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Grigg served as the DOH
Director of the Division of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management
and the State Registrar of Vital Statistics. During his more than 30 years of
experience with Florida's public health agency, he has worked within the areas
of health statistics, strategic planning, community health improvement planning
and public health informatics. In his role as the Director of the Division of
Public Health Statistics and Performance Management, Mr. Grigg's
responsibilities included oversight and coordination of DOH strategic and
community health improvement planning activities.
Mr. Grigg has served on various national and state level
committees and councils addressing issues of performance management and health
statistics. He has served as a member of the National Association of Public
Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS) Executive Committee, the
Association of State and Territorial Health Officials Infectious Disease
Committee, and the NAPHSIS Social Security Administration Committee, the Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation Advisory Group on Web-Based Data Dissemination Systems,
and the Florida State Consumer Health Information and Policy Advisory Council.
Mr. Grigg received the 2011 National MCH Epidemiology Award for Effective State
Level Practice for improving public health practice through effective use of
data, epidemiology and applied research.
Mr. Grigg earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology from
Florida State University, and his master's degree in Sociology from Indiana
University.
