Mentor
A mentor
is an adult who, along with parents, provides young people with support,
counsel, friendship, reinforcement and constructive example. Mentors are good
listeners, people who care, people who want to help young people bring out
strengths that are already there.
Volunteering
is an experience that can bring many rewarding moments. Volunteering also
teaches children the value of giving their time and effort while introducing
you to skills and experiences never before encountered.
Book Clubs
Establishing or joining a book club can be a very nurturing and empowering
experience. Being involved in a book club is a way to bond with others and
strengthen our minds and our spirits.
Libraries
Libraries play an important role in the education and development of
children. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use
the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use
the library as a source of lifelong learning. It is the only place people of
all ages and backgrounds can find and freely use a diversity of resources.
Resources are available free of charge
