Northeast Regional Cancer Control Collaborative
The Northeast Region has a wealth of resources. The Comprehensive Cancer Program is currently working with partners in or near Baker, Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Nassau, Orange, Osceola, St. Johns, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia Counties to establish a collaborative that will unite and coordinate the efforts of the many cancer focused groups that serve this section of the state.
Your involvement in a collaborative is the key to increasing awareness and creating change in the community. Cancer prevention and treatment requires input and feedback from a lot of partners including:
- doctors
- public health personnel
- non-profit organizations
- insurance companies
- employers that sponsor health plans
- businesses
- cancer survivors
- government agencies
- colleges and universities
- advocates
- community members
The power of partnership is well demonstrated in the cancer collaboratives that exist across the state. The regional Cancer Control Collaboratives (CCCs) educate and empower communities by bringing together a strong group of partnering organizations and individuals.
Because each person brings a unique perspective to a collaborative, collaboratives without full involvement from professionals as well as community members may face difficulties in meeting the community's goals.
You are invited to learn more about cancer control activities in Florida and the role each one of us can play. This effort targets participants with or without a formal health background who have a personal interest in advancing the effort to control and prevent cancer.
