Program Overview

Source of Funding

The National Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) was launched by the Centers for Disease Control to support and increase population-based screening efforts and provide colorectal cancer screening services to low-income men and women aged 50-64 years who are uninsured. The funding supports limited screening and diagnostic follow-up care, patient navigation, data collection and tracking, public education and outreach, provider education, and evaluation activities to measure the clinical outcomes, costs, and effectiveness of the program.

Program Goals

  1. Statewide promotion of colorectal screening among the general population for those whom colorectal cancer screening is recommended.
  2. Provision of limited colorectal screenings to targeted populations in three geographic areas of the state through the lead of the health departments in Manatee, Miami-Dade, and Putnam counties.
