Nutrition and Wellness Tips for Young Children: Provider Handbook for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is a series of tip sheets to help child care providers meet current wellness recommendations for children ages 2 to 6 years olds. By using the tip sheets when planning meals and activities for children, providers can incorporate key recommendations and best practices into menus and daily schedules.
The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) of 2010 encourages child care providers to promote health and wellness in child care through nutrition, physical activity and limited electronic media use. This Web site is dedicated to helping CACFP providers find the resources they need to meet recommendations in these areas.
Let's Move Child Care is part of the First Ladys initiative that is dedicated to solving the obesity problem. This site provides healthy eating and exercise information and resources. In addition, the site provides menu planning tips and ideas for getting started.
This site highlights farm to preschool initiatives that encourage, connect, and introduce local or regionally produced foods to preschool age children.
Breastfed babies and their moms who breastfeed them experience lasting health benefits. Providing a breastfeeding friendly atmosphere at your child care center or home can encourage moms to continue breastfeeding after returning to work or school. Complete the child care facility self-assessment to find out if your child care facility qualifies. If your facility meets all six standards and has a breastfeeding policy, you may qualify to receive the Florida CCFP Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Facility designation.
