    Tobacco - Help Your Patients Quit Smoking

Quitline Logo showing their toll free number 1-877-822-6669 Florida smokers wishing to kick the habit may get free help by calling the Florida Quit-For-Life Line toll-free at 877-U CAN NOW. Counselors speak English and Spanish. TDD is available for the hearing impaired. Callers speaking other languages may get translation services. The Quitline provides callers with counseling and other information to help them quit smoking. To order brochures, and get other information please visit the QuitLine website.

Dr. Siri Akai of the University of Miami was the primary presenter for one of the teleconferences. She presented information on using ACOG's "Smoking Cessation during Pregnancy: A Clinician's Guide to Helping Pregnant Women Quit Smoking." On the second teleconference, Andree Aubrey and Mary Dailey from Big Bend AHEC presented on implementing the "Make Yours A Fresh Start" model for intervening for prenatal smoking cessation.
