Office of the
General Counsel
The Office of the General Counsel provides legal
representation for the Department of Health. It also provides training,
oversight and coordination for the Department's attorneys throughout the state;
prepares General Counsel opinions; coordinates risk management referrals, legal
assignments and legal representation for all of the Department of Health's
programs and County Health Departments; assures timely and accurate responses to
legal issues facing the Department.
Nicholas W. Romanello, General Counsel
Mr. Romanello provides the
State Surgeon General, Deputy Secretaries and Senior Management with advice on
legal issues that have an impact on the administration of the Department of
Health. Additionally, he directs and manages the activities of a state-wide team
of over 90 attorneys located in 15 offices throughout Florida.

E. Renee Alsobrook, Deputy General Counsel for
Prosecution Services
Ms. Alsobrook manages and
provides oversight to the Departments Prosecution Services Unit (PSU). The
PSU assists in the regulation of, and prosecutes, the nearly one million health
care practitioners throughout Florida.
Veronica McCrackin, Deputy General Counsel for Health
As Deputy General Counsel for Health, Ms. McCrackin assists
the General Counsel in the planning, supervision and coordination of all legal
services necessary to support the Departments mission, vision and goals.

Tschetter serves as the primary liaison to the Departments attorneys who
provide services directly to Floridas 67 County Health Departments.
