Biography information about Jim Boyd, Inspector General
Jim Boyd has served as Inspector General for the Florida Department of Health since January, 2007. Under authority of Section 20.055, Florida Statutes, his responsibilities include management of the internal audit and internal investigative activities within the Department. He has 36 years of internal audit, accounting, and investigative experience in government, industry and public accounting. Jim previously served as Inspector General for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, the Florida State Courts System, the Florida Department of Commerce, and the Florida Department of Banking and Finance. Jim has also taught financial accounting at Florida State University as an adjunct instructor and serves as an instructor for the Association of Inspectors General.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in accounting and finance and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Florida State University. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and a Certified Inspector General. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and has served the Tallahassee Chapter as president, treasurer, and member of the Board of Governors. He served on the international Internal Auditing Standards Board, from 2001 to 2009, setting global guidelines for the professional practice of internal auditing. Other professional memberships include the Association of Inspectors General, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Florida Audit Forum.
