Exercise: The Four MAPP Assessments -
Using county health status reports from CHARTS, the 2005Leon County Local
Public Health System Assessment results and a qualitative description of
community themes and forces of change, participants will work in small
groups to develop a brief summary of each of the four MAPP assessments.

Discussion about Policy Development
Exercise: Identifying Strategic Issues - Participants will work in small
groups to identify a master list of issues based on the results of the
Four MAPP Assessments Exercise.
2:00 - 3:00 - Exercise: "Identifying Strategic Issues" Continued -
In this portion of the exercise the small groups will convene to identify
through consensus building, a short list of comprehensive and inclusive
issues. These issues will be the "strategic Issues" which will form the
basis of the "action plan or community health improvement plan".
3:00 - 3:15 - Break
3:15 - 4:30 - Exercise: Formulating Goals
and Strategies - In the
MAPP phase of formulating goals and strategies phase of MAPP, participants
take the strategic issues identified in the previous phase and formulate
goal statements related to those issues.
4:30 - 5:00- Review of day one, feedback, and review of
day two agenda.

10:15 - 11:30 Exercise: The Action Cycle
of MAPP-This exercise
links all the previous phases and activities. While the Action Cycle is
the final phase of MAPP, it is by no means the "end" of the process. In
this exercise, the products of the previous exercises will blend to
produce an action plan and logic model for addressing the identified
priority goals and objectives of the identified strategic issues.
