Hardware and Software Minimums:

  • A high speed Internet connection:

    • EDRS is an Internet application and requires users to be connected to the Internet in order to access the application. EDRS performs at peak efficiency over a high speed internet connection such as those provided by your local cable company or wireless phone provider.

  • Software:

    • To use EDRS, you must have the following applications installed on your computer:

    • A Web browser supported by EDRS

    • Adobe Acrobat Reader - a free downloaded from Adobe Software (http://www.adobe.com).

    • Citrix Receiver®  plug-in.  (Available upon successful completion of the training tutorial.)

  • Hardware/Operating Systems:

    • Sound Card and a high speed Internet connection

    • Turn off Pop-up Blocker

    • 1.8GHz processor

    • 128MB of RAM

    • 64MB of VRAM (Video RAM)

    • Microsoft® Windows XP or Vista®

    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2.0, Safari

Configuring your Web browser:

  • Enable Javascript:

    • EDRS uses Javascript to provide for easy navigation as well as data entry validation on some fields. You must have Javascript enabled on the browser in order to use EDRS

Printer hardware:

Most printers have been found to be compatible with the Citrix Receiver plug-in, however not all printers ARE compatible.  If you are unsure about your equipment, visit www.citrix.com to verify your printer.

  • Note: a solid ink (wax) printer cannot be used for any official documents sent to the Department of Health, such as amendment forms, replacement forms or death records created manually.  Due to the nature of the ink in the solid ink printers, the devices used for scanning the documents generates enough heat to re-liquefy the wax based ink and causes the document to smear.

User ID and password:

Once you have completed and submitted the necessary forms to the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Jacksonville, your  information is verified against State of Florida databases such as licensing and certifications.  Upon approval, your access information is created and you will receive your User ID and Password. You may then, log into the EDRS system.
