The Vital Statistics Code books and training materials are designed to assist in the analysis of vital statistics data. They include information about the fields collected, their definitions and valid codes. With the implementation of new certificates of birth (2004), death (2005) and fetal death (2006) the code manuals reflect appropriate values for current as well as previous versions of the certificates. Collection of Healthy Start infant screening data concurrent with the certificate of live birth began in 2007.
