FLORIDA TOBACCO EDUCATION AND USE PREVENTION ADVISORY COUNCIL
On November 7, 2006, the people of the State of Florida adopted Amendment 4, requiring funding of a Comprehensive Statewide Tobacco Education and Prevention Program. The Amendment resulted in implementing legislation which is codified in 381.84, Florida Statutes.
The statute creates several program compenents, including the Tobacco Education and Use Prevention Advisory Council. The Council provides advice to the State Surgeon General on the program's direction and scope. While advisory in its capacity, the Council represents an impressive selection of tobacco prevention and control experts from Florida and the nation.
