DESIGNATED FACILITY AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE

Goal:  Ensure the Bureau accomplishes the vision of the consistent provision of quality specialized treatment and access to care by a Statewide Coordinated System of Care Network of designated facilities, providers and services across the spectrum of emergency room to community activities and employment for Floridians who sustain traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

 

Committee functions shall include but not be limited to the following:

 

·                     Develop and review of the standards for designated facilities to ensure appropriateness and compliance with state and national standards for the following areas:

o        EMS/EMSC

o        Acute/Trauma Care (Adult & Pediatric)

o        In-patient Rehabilitation (Adult and Pediatric)

o        Sub-Acute/Skilled Nursing (Adult and Pediatric)

o        Outpatient Rehabilitative and Clinics (Adult and Pediatric)

o        Transitional Living Facilities  (Adult and Pediatric)

o        Ventilator Program/Clinics (Adult and Pediatric)

o        Long Term Community Care (Waiver)

 

·                     Monitor and evaluate the Bureau’s site survey reports of designated facilities to identify trends and ensure quality assurance and improvement

·                     Assist in the recruitment and training of site surveyors.

·                     Assist in the recruitment and retention of Accredited Designated Facilities to ensure client access to a Statewide Coordinated System of Care Network.

·                     Develop and monitor ongoing marketing and program awareness projects for the designated facilities.

·                     Work with the EMS Advisory Council’s Trauma Committee and the BSCIP Prevention and Education Committee to develop and implement an Interdisciplinary Spinal Cord Extrication/Mobilization Needs Assessment to determine the need for further training spinal cord extrication/mobilization training for EMS providers.

·                    Coordinate with the Research, Data Collection and Evaluation Committee to monitor and evaluate the Central Registry, the Rehabilitation Management Information System (RIMS), Designated Facilities, Contractors and Community Partner’s data collection processes to identify trends and data collection issues and problems and make recommendations for enhancements of RIMS, UDS/FIMS or other potential data collection and analysis systems or measures to ensure data integrity and accountability.
 

Identify and resolve access to care and health insurance issues.
