PREVENTION AND EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Goal:  To ensure adequate and effective prevention and education programs and activities are provided in all areas of the state to reduce the incidence of injuries and secondary complications.

 

Committee functions shall include but not be limited to the following:

 

·                     Assist in the development, provision and evaluation of education and training programs for Bureau staff, Advisory Council and Standing Committee Members, Family members, Providers, Legislators, EMS, Primary Care Physicians and other health care providers, School Personnel, Community, etc.

·                     Coordinate and collaborate with Safe Kids and other DOH Statewide Injury Prevention Programs, designated facilities, the Bureau’s contractual and community partners, universities, other state agencies to ensure integration of efforts and resources to provide injury prevention and education programs and activities in communities across Florida.

·                     Develop spinal cord extrication/mobilization training curriculum/video for EMS providers in conjunction with the Council’s Designated Facilities, Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee and the EMS Council’s Trauma Committee.

·                     Ensure CEU’s are obtained for Council meetings and Educational Programs.

·                     Oversight of Prevention and Education Activities and Program Sponsorships.

·                     Integrate the Bureau of Brain and Spinal Cord Injury prevention efforts with the State Plan.
