Welcome to the State Primary Care Office Florida's State Primary Care Office coordinates local, state and federal resources to improve primary care access and health professional workforce availability in medically underserved communities throughout Florida. The State Primary Care Office is funded through a Primary Care Services Resource Coordination and Development Cooperative Agreement between the Florida Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration. Florida's Primary Care Office also facilitates the "Community Health Center Access Program Act", Florida Statute 409.91255, a program of distribution of financial assistance for the expansion of Florida's federally qualified health centers for the purpose of providing primary and preventive health care and urgent care services to medically underserved Floridians. "The Community Health Center Access Program Act" supports the coordination of federal, state and local resources to assist health centers in developing expanded community-based primary care delivery systems. The State Office of Primary Care Office reviews areas of the state and makes recommendations for their federal designation as Health Professional Shortage Areas (primary care, dental and mental health), and Medically Underserved Areas/Populations. The State Primary Care Office recommends health professionals for placement in underserved areas, including the National Health Service Corps and the J-1 Visa Waiver (State 30) Program. The National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network - 3RNet.org Florida is a member of 3RNet, a nationally recognized rural recruitment and retention network that assists states with the recruitment of health professionals for rural and underserved areas. Florida’s membership in 3RNet provides a common web portal for health care practitioners nationwide to identify opportunities in Florida’s rural and underserved communities. It will also allow community organizations such as county health departments, community health centers, hospitals, and others that are seeking physicians, dentists, nurses, mental health, EMS, and allied health professionals to post information about specific job opportunities on a central site.
