Daytona Beach, Florida—Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center (FHMMC) announced today the hiring of Donald “Trace” Pendry as the Executive Director of the Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation. Pendry is currently an assistant state attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office. As executive director, his responsibilities include oversight of the Foundation’s fundraising activities and building relationships among community partners.

“We’re extremely blessed to have Trace join the Florida Hospital family,” said Mark LaRose, President and CEO at FHMMC. “Not only does he bring extensive health care experience, but his deep roots in the Daytona and Ormond Beach communities will be vital to the growth and success of the Foundation.”

Originally from Orlando, Pendry’s extensive community involvement includes volunteering with the board of directors at both Riverbend Community Church and Embraced by Grace Adoption Agency, as well as coaching the Riverbend Academy varsity girls’ soccer team. Professionally, his sales experience at TAP Pharmaceuticals provided insight into the health care industry. Pendry will fill the executive director position following the resignation of Jim Weite, who oversaw the Foundation during a two-year period of growth.

“Jim provided exceptional leadership to the Foundation during a critical time,” said David Hood, Chairman of the Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation’s Board of Directors. “The Foundation played an essential role during the construction of both the new hospital and the new Comprehensive Cancer Center. Jim has built a solid foundation that will enable us to achieve future success.”

Pendry begins his new role as of June 6 and is looking forward to the challenges ahead. “While I’m thrilled for the opportunity to join such a mission-driven organization, I’m very aware of the challenges of fundraising in this economic environment,” said Pendry. “However, I feel strongly that the Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation is uniquely positioned to be successful, and I’m excited to be part of that journey.”
