Environmental Public Health Programs - PACE-EH (Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health)

Page last updated: 09/24/12

For several years, the Florida Department Of Health Division of Environmental Health has supported county health departments to work with their communities and address environmental health concerns. All projects are designed to open the lines of communication between the department's county health departments and their affected communities. PACE-EH is a 13 step program designed to identify local community environmental public health problems and generate solutions to those problems.

PACE EH is effective because it:

  • Establishes active solutions to community identified issues.
  • Generates new and improved leadership roles in the community regarding environmental health issues.
  • Creates new professional partnerships.
  • Builds confidence to take on large projects.
  • Establishes new relationships between local health agencies and communities.
