DAYTONA BEACH - The Volusia County Health Department, the O’Neill Foundation for Community Health, and local hospitals are joining forces to raise awareness about the growing issue of diabetes by hosting community forums.
Diabetes impacts more than 40,000 Volusia County residents, including one out of every four adults 60 years of age or older. An estimated 25 percent of people living in Volusia County have diabetes, but have not been diagnosed and are continuing on untreated.
All of the diabetes community forums are free and open to the public. Screenings will be offered for people who believe they may be at risk of developing diabetes.
