Gainesville Area AIDS Project (GAAP)
"Gainesville Area AIDS Project is a safe haven where people with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones can gather in a friendly atmosphere free from discrimination and stigma."
Gainesville Area AIDS Project provides a weekly no-cost lunch on Tuesdays, everyone is welcome! Free bread, pastry and other frozen food items are distributed on Tuesdays for take home. Once a month, free toiletries and home necessity items are distributed to those infected with HIV/AIDS in Alachua county, who qualify for the TREE program.
Eligibility requirements for the TREE program: The Replacement of Everyday Essentials (TREE) is a program of GAAP that provides clients with items such as: laundry detergent, bleach, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, razors, shaving cream and other essentials. We have recently streamlined the process of becoming a TREE client. Clients may be referred for the TREE program by their Ryan White case manager OR self-referred.
Clients who wish to self-refer shall call Nace Hopple at (352) 373-4227. The client will be advised of when to appear for their first TREE products pick up. The client must bring with him/her a current Letter of Eligibility. The client cannot be enrolled into the TREE program without a copy of this Letter of Eligibility.
Clients are only required to provide a Letter of Eligibility one time, unless the client drops from the program for whatever reason and requests re-enrollment.
