According to Chapter 14, Article III of the Brevard County Code of Ordinances, Brevard County Health Department’s Environmental Health Services is responsible for the regulation of animal care facilities located within Brevard County.  An animal care facility is any place of business where dogs, cats, horses and other animals, except livestock and rodents, regardless of number, are kept for sale, breeding, boarding or treatment purposes including veterinary hospitals, animal grooming establishments or pet shops, except such facilities which are licensed, permitted, and subject to regular inspections by other animal regulatory agencies.

Any person wanting to open an animal care facility in Brevard County must submit a completed application and payment in the amount of $75.00 to the Brevard County Health Department’s Environmental Health Services and must be granted a license prior to operation.  Licenses are valid for one year based on issuance date and must be renewed annually.
