The Charlotte County Health Department is the first health department in the U.S. to receive a bronze medal award for being a Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB). The award was given by the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) in September 2010. Learn more about commuting to work by bike and how we became a Bicycle Friendly Business. The Charlotte County Health Department received three
(3) Prudential Financial - Davis Productivity awards. This year’s competition attracted 489
nominations for innovation and productivity improvements worth $322
million in cost savings, cost avoidances and increased revenue for state
government. Since 1989, award winners have produced more than $5.9

Charlotte
County Health Department was certified as
Project
Public Health Ready on February 21, 2008. This designation
recognizes health departments that demonstrate they are prepared to
respond to emergency public health events to protect the public and the
environment. PPHR is a collaborative activity of the National
Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Proclamation
that on January 30, 2007 the Punta Gorda facility of the Charlotte
County Health Department officially re-opened and is ready to meet the
public health needs of Charlotte County citizens.
