Together, with all the outstanding professionals who work at your Citrus County Health Department/George A. Dame Community Health Center, we strive to provide our community with exceptional public health and primary care services.

The Citrus County Health Department has four distinct areas of focus including Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Access to Health Care, Emergency Preparedness and Organizational Excellence. Our 2009-2010 goals and objectives are outlined below.

Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Goals:

Community Outreach:

-Decrease the percentage of adults who currently smoke from 25.7% to 23.0
• Promote a healthy environment, through Environmental Health Services.
Environmental Health impacts everyone, everywhere, everyday. Our Environmental Health Team strives to prevent injury and illness by managing issues involving human health exposure and risk involving food, drinking and recreational water, indoor air, land, animals, vectors, the built environment, and chemical or radiological emergencies.

Access to Health Care Goals:

-Increase access to mental health and substance abuse treatment
-Increase access to low-cost prescription medications: Open and operate community Pharmacy in 2010
-Monitor and plan for on-going health care needs in the community: Perform a community needs assessment in 2010

Emergency Preparedness Goals:
• Prepare for response to natural or man-made disaster through planning, response, mitigation and recovery:
-Lead agency for ESF 8
-Lead Agency for health response to radiological incidents
-Lead Agency for County Executive Planning Committee
-Operate Special Needs Shelters
• Protect Florida Citizens, visitors and infrastructure through epidemiological surveillance and investigation, and public health laboratory testing.

Organizational Excellence Goals:
• Increase the percentage of employees who rate their overall level of satisfaction as "very satisfied or "satisfied" from 70 % in 2006 to 80% by
2010.
• Maintain a stable proportion of customers reporting satisfaction with the services they received (95%).
• Provide a fair and equitable distribution of appropriated resources to ensure the fiscal integrity of the Citrus County Health Department/George A. Dame Community Health Center: maximize revenues and minimize expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner through seeking and securing grant funding, maintaining a cash balance as mandated by state statue and maintaining GAP procedures for all budget and accounting processes.
