source. To participate clients must provide a new prescription every 6 months
and update financial information annually and as needed if anything changes.
Epilepsy:
Epilepsy medications are provided though a state sponsored program to clients
who qualify. Financial eligibility is determined annually and clients are to
provide a new prescription every 6 to 12 months as prescribed by the physician.
Rheumatic fever:
Rheumatic fever medications may also be provided to clients through the health
department with a prescription from your doctor.
SHARPS Disposal Program
What should you do with your used syringes/needles or lancets?
Citrus County Health Department has a USED SHARPS DEPOSITORY PROGRAM for all
residents and visitors. This program is designed to help individuals safely
dispose of their used syringes, needles, and lancets. This helps to prevent
others from accidental needle stick injuries and possible exposure to infections.
The program also helps prevent clogging of sewage lines and decrease the use
of the landfill. There is no charge for the disposal.
How can you participate:
-
Get an approved SHARPS container, for a small fee, from
your pharmacy or at one of the health department clinics.
-
Place all your used SHARPS into the container. Store it
out of reach of children.
-
When the container is filled, snap the lid shut--it will
then be locked.
-
Return the locked container to any Citrus County Health
Department clinic or to the Citrus County Landfill. Give it to an employee;
do not leave the container unattended.
-
The health department will make sure that the container
is disposed of through safe and approved methods.
Questions Call any health department clinic site.
