Clinic Services

The DeSoto County Health Department’s Primary Care Services are located at 519 W. Hickory St. Dental Services are located at 34 S. Baldwin Ave. Clinic Services are provided on a sliding fee scale basis. Immunizations are FREE for children under age 18 and the only cost for adults is the cost of the vaccine. Clinic Fees are based on income and family size. We proudly accept Medicaid, and for clients that are uninsured or prefer to pay out-of-pocket, we accept cash, check, Visa and Mastercard.

Primary Care - Heart and stethescopePrimary Care

The Primary Care Clinic provides coordinated, comprehensive, health care for acute and chronic diseases for adults and children. Primary Care services include: diagnosis, treatment, patient education regarding specific illnesses and their prevention, as well as good health maintenance practices.

Examples of these services include:

  • Physical examinations
  • Medical management of hypertension, diabetes, heart and lung ailments
  • Infectious diseases and other health problems not requiring a specialist or hospitalization

Primary Care also offers Pediatric Health Services that promotes healthy behaviors, strengthens community prevention, and assures access to quality health care for children. Our team of board-certified practitioners is trained to educate, diagnose, and treat common childhood illness. Clinical services include:

  • Well-child examinations
  • School physicals
  • Sports physicals
  • Treatment of illnesses

Women's Health and Family Planning - 3 Women ReadingWomen’s Health and Family Planning

Women’s Health provides family planning, cancer and sexually transmitted disease screenings, as well as treatment for uncomplicated gynecological problems through out Primary Care Clinic. Gynecologists are available for further diagnostic testing in the event of any abnormal pap smear.

Additionally, our Family Planning services offer a variety of current methods of birth control. Birth control methods include natural family planning, male and female condoms, diaphragms, vaginal rings and film, oral contraceptives, intra-uterine devices (IUD) and injections. Confidential pregnancy testing is also available.

Our Dental Clinic is a fully-functional, state-of-the-art facility that prides itself on providing quality dental services to all children and adults. Dental services available to both children and adults include:

The Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Intervention Program is responsible for the investigation, control, and prevention of STDs in DeSoto County.  We provide many confidential services including testing and screening for STDs or HIV.  For clients who test positive, we offer medical care and treatment at our clinic site.  In addition, contact investigations are conducted for all confirmed cases to identify and test sexual partners who may have been exposed or infected.  Finally, the STD Intervention Program provides outreach services to help educate the community about reducing the risks for STDs.

DCHD is also committed to providing quality HIV/AIDS services to the community.  We offer testing, treatment, and obtain medical and social services for people living with HIV/AIDS.  HIV/AIDS treatment for eligible patients include: medical visits, clinical counseling, lab work, and certain pharmaceuticals.  Case Management is also available.
