Migrant Farm Worker Housing
DeSoto County is home to many migrant and seasonal farm workers and
their families. The intent of Chapter 64E-14 of the Florida
Administrative Code is to prescribe minimum sanitation requirements
to protect the health and safety of the persons residing in migrant
labor housing and to reduce the number of migrant farm workers
exposed to unsanitary conditions, both in migrant labor housing and
in the workplace. Application for a permit to construct or operate
migrant farm worker housing is required by Florida State Law.
Applications can be obtained on online and at the DeSoto County
Health Department—Environmental Health Division office located at
34 South Baldwin ; Arcadia, FL 34266.
The DeSoto County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division

• Plan Review and Permitting
• Pre-Inspection and Routine Inspections
• Investigations
• Education
• Enforcement of State Laws and Regulations
