Helping YOU get a Healthy Start by:

  • Arranging for free pregnancy tests

  • Offering a confidential interview to determine your needs

  • Arranging for good medical care

  • Providing prenatal and postnatal guidance

  • Showing you how you can continue in school or on the job

  • Helping to arrange financial assistance

  • Providing referrals, as needed

  • Supplying ongoing personal counseling in a supportive relationship

  • Planning for mother's and baby's future

  • Offering maternity clothing and infant care items

  • Encouraging self-development, learning responsibility for one's own actions and respect for the rights of others.

You may qualify for MOMCare, a Medicaid-funded program designed to provide benefits only during pregnancy. This health insurance may be available even if you or other family members are working.

Benefits include:

  • No cost to you

  • Provides Choice Counseling for selecting a primary maternity care provider

  • Promotes early prenatal care

  • Encourages the Healthy Start

  • Screening Process

  • Identifies Client Need

  • Provides Referrals

Care Coordination also provides childcare information, emotional support, encouragement and referrals that may benefit your whole family.
 

 

Pregnant Stomach

As a participant, you may receive:

  • Childbirth Education

  • Nutrition Counseling

  • Breastfeeding Instruction

  • Smoking Cessation Referrals

  • Prenatal Care

  • Parenting Education

  • Psychosocial Counseling

  • Infant Risk Screening

  • Referrals to Other Services

Through Parenting Education, moms and dads receive information about raising a child, managing child heath problems and understanding children.

Some Topics include:

  • Family Rules

  • Proper Use of Time Out

  • Stress Management for Parents

  • Self Esteem

  • Communication Skills

Classes are provided free of charge to
Healthy Start participants.
