CHILD RESTRAINT OFFENDER PROGRAM (CROP)
   
What is the Child Restraint Offender Program (CROP)?
CROP was established under a law passed by Florida's Legislature. CROP provides an opportunity for persons cited for improper or non use of child safety seats to attend an educational class and withhold 3 points from their driver's license.
Program Goals:
• Provide education on motor vehicle safety
• Provide information on proper use of child safety restraints
• Encourage correct use of child safety restraints
Who Is Eligible?
Anyone may attend the class to receive information and learn more about motor vehicle safety and child restraint devices. Persons attending for informational reasons do not pay any fee. Those attending because of traffic citations for improper use or non use of child safety restraints, pay court costs.
Times, Dates & Location
CROP classes are offered regularly at the Health Department / Health Center. When you call to register, you will be scheduled for the next available class and told the day, time and location.
What Are My Options?
- Option #1
Pay citation within 30 days, 3 points assessed to driver's license.
- Option #2
Sign, notarize and return CROP Affidavit with program fee of $148.50 and the traffic citation to:

- Sign up for CROP class by calling (352)-540-6800 ext 82154.
- Successfully complete CROP course and return Certificate of Completion to Hernando County Clerk of Circuit Court within 90 days of signing affidavit.
