CHILD RESTRAINT OFFENDER PROGRAM (CROP)

What is the Child Restraint Offender Program (CROP)?

CROP was established under a law passed by Florida's Legislature. CROP provides an opportunity for persons cited for improper or non use of child safety seats to attend an educational class and withhold 3 points from their driver's license.

Program Goals:

•   Provide education on motor vehicle safety
•   Provide information on proper use of child safety restraints
•   Encourage correct use of child safety restraints

Times, Dates & Location

CROP classes are offered regularly at the Health Department / Health Center. When you call to register, you will be scheduled for the next available class and told the day, time and location.

What Are My Options?

• Option #1
  Pay citation within 30 days, 3 points assessed to driver's license.
• Option #2
  Sign, notarize and return CROP Affidavit with program fee of $148.50 and the traffic citation to:

  Hernando Co. Clerk of Circuit Court
  20 N. Main Street, Room 217
  Brooksville, FL 34601

• Sign up for CROP class by calling (352)-540-6800 ext 82154.
• Successfully complete CROP course and return Certificate of Completion to Hernando County Clerk of Circuit Court within 90 days of signing affidavit.
